WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee Inc. has named Jay Marshall chief operating officer. He had been executive vice president and chief retail officer.
With the promotion, Marshall becomes only the fourth person in the company’s history to hold the COO title. He will remain in charge of retail operations and store development while taking on responsibility for all merchandising areas at the employee-owned supermarket chain, which operates 240 stores in eight Midwestern states.
Hy-Vee chairman, CEO and president Randy Edeker announced the move at the company’s annual shareholders meeting. Eight new board members were also elected to one-year terms at the meeting.
