Industry veteran Joe Mueller retires from Kellanova

Joe Mueller is retiring following a career defined by customer partnerships, sales leadership and industry engagement across the grocery and mass retail sectors.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellanova veteran Joe Mueller is retiring after more than 35 years with the company, closing out a career spanning sales leadership, customer engagement and industry advocacy across the grocery and mass retail landscapes.

Mueller most recently served as vice president of purposeful engagement, where he aligned customer priorities with company strategy across retail channels. During his tenure, he became known for building strong partnerships with retailers and helping shape evolving go-to-market and shopper engagement strategies.

He joined Kellogg Company in 1992 as a retail sales representative and advanced through a series of leadership positions covering national accounts, Walmart, health and wellness and agency teams. Over the course of his career, Mueller earned a reputation as a collaborative leader and industry connector, helping strengthen relationships between manufacturers, retailers and trade organizations.

Beyond his work at Kellanova, Mueller has remained active in industry leadership roles, serving on the advisory council of the National Grocers Association, the executive committee of the California Grocers Association and as an advisory director to the National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association.

Colleagues credited Mueller with helping shape customer engagement strategies while serving as a trusted ambassador for both the company and the broader retail industry.

In retirement, Mueller and his wife, Nancy, plan to spend more time with their three children while enjoying fishing, golfing and time on the water.
