Instacart names Etsy CEO Josh Silverman to Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO — Instacart has appointed Josh Silverman, chief executive officer of Etsy Inc., to its board of directors.

Silverman, who has led Etsy since 2017 and previously held senior roles at Skype, Shopping.com, American Express, and eBay, is known for building and scaling consumer marketplace platforms. He also co-founded digital invitation service Evite and currently serves on Shake Shack’s board.

“Josh is a proven marketplace innovator with a track record of scaling consumer platforms such as Etsy, Evite, and Skype,” said Chris Rogers, Instacart’s Chief Executive Officer. “His deep understanding of consumer technology, passion for empowering independent entrepreneurs, and commitment to sustainable growth make him an invaluable asset.
