When Jennifer Silberman joined Dollar Tree in October 2022, she set out to make sustainability “accessible, affordable and equitable” — a mandate that closely aligns with the value retailer’s mission and scale.
Now serving as chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer, Silberman oversees the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy at a time when resilience, transparency and operational efficiency are increasingly intertwined. Her remit includes climate strategy, stakeholder engagement and brand reputation, ensuring that sustainability initiatives reinforce business growth and risk management.
In Dollar Tree’s 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Report, Silberman detailed the strategy: “Operationally, we’re making strategic investments to establish a cleaner, safer and more responsible footprint — from AI-enabled HVAC systems and LED retrofits in stores to smarter fleet routing and more efficient distribution. These measures help us cut emissions, reduce waste and build long-term resilience.”
She added, “As we work toward our net-zero by 2050 ambition, we have updated our climate risk assessment, which covers 1,000 facilities, and continued to build our decarbonization road map.”
Before joining Dollar Tree, Silberman led responsible business and corporate affairs strategies at YETI, Hilton and Target, and began her career advising global companies and organizations at APCO Worldwide. A board member of Keep America Beautiful, Net Impact, and Operation Homefront, Silberman frames sustainability and social impact as both stewardship and strategy — embedding environmental and social progress into the everyday operations of value retail.
