WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Kathryn Mazza joined Hy-Vee in early 2024 to oversee the company’s retail media network, Hy-Vee RedMedia, where she currently serves as president. In January 2025, she was also named the company’s new chief marketing officer.

“Kathryn is the right leader to help bring our retail media and marketing efforts together to create even more value for our customers and our vendor partners,” Jeremy Gosch, Hy-Vee’s chairman and chief executive officer, said when announcing Mazza’s promotion earlier this year.

Under Mazza’s leadership, RedMedia advises brand partners on how to maximize their marketing investments while delivering measurable results and valuable consumer insights.

“We’re committed to bridging the gap between brands and consumers using an omnichannel approach backed by first-party data and personalization,” Mazza says.

As chief marketing officer, Mazza’s focused on evolving Hy-Vee’s brand and image by taking a customer-centric approach to all messaging while also ensuring that all decisions are being driven by data and insights.

“At the end of the day, we are in the business of being helpful and providing solutions for all customers,” she says. “There’s nothing more important in my opinion. And that commitment extends far beyond just the products we have in our stores.”

Mazza is particularly proud of how Hy-Vee’s different operational areas — from marketing to the retail stores to distribution teams — came together recently for Hy-Vee’s 100 Million Meals Challenge, where the retailer raised enough in food and funds to supply 102 million meals to Feeding America-affiliated food banks across its region.

“That is a powerful example, to me, of how we can use our brand and our messaging to truly make a difference for people,” Mazza says.
