BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — David Denholm has returned to Kellogg Co. as chief executive officer of its Kashi Co. natural foods business.
David Denholm has returned to Kellogg Co. as chief executive officer of its Kashi Co. natural foods business.
Denholm, who began in the Kashi CEO post earlier this month, formerly was president of U.S. morning foods at Kellogg. He reports to John Bryant, Kellogg chairman and CEO.
The appointment of Denholm came with Kellogg’s decision to move Kashi from Battle Creek, Mich., back to the LaJolla, Calif., area where it began. Kellogg had brought Kashi to Battle Creek in the early part of 2013.
Kellogg said the change re-establishes Kashi as a stand-alone natural foods business — including the Kashi, Bear Naked and Stretch Island Fruit Co. brands — and will foster the entrepreneurial culture needed for shorter development times and a more nimble decision-making process.
"David’s prior experience and success running Kashi in 2004, combined with his deep natural lifestyle category knowledge, will ensure the focus remains on the food, trends and healthful benefits that appeal most to Kashi consumers," Kellogg stated.
"As one of the leading brands in the food-forward space, the Kellogg Co. believes this investment in Kashi will provide significant growth opportunities over time."
