Krista Pascanik, Target team lead for the Emerson Group, oversees strategy and sales for a portfolio of brands generating more than $500 million in sales at the discount store retailer. Helping guide brands through one of the industry’s most dynamic and scrutinized environments, she and her team have delivered double-digit compound annual growth over the past six years.

Target’s merchandising formula is distinctive, and not every brand is built for it, according to Pascanik. As a result, she and her team have developed a culture rooted in collaboration and consultancy, leveraging Emerson’s deep data and insight resources to guide brands toward the right opportunities — and long-term relevance.

“In today’s retail landscape, simply gaining shelf space isn’t enough,” she noted. “Distribution is not a long-term growth strategy. Sustainable growth comes from relevance — understanding the shopper and the retailer’s model, and ensuring your brand authentically fits within that ecosystem.”

With an extensive cross-disciplinary background, Pascanik is always aware of how decisions can reverberate across an ­organization.
