Kroger earns 2025 Gold Bell Seal for workplace mental health

The Bell Seal recognizes employers prioritizing mental wellness and adopting comprehensive policies to support their workforce.

CINCINNATI—Kroger Co. has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America (MHA). This certification recognizes organizations that firmly commit to fostering mentally healthy work environments.

The Bell Seal is a groundbreaking workplace certification program developed by MHA, the nation's leading community-based nonprofit focused on mental health. Since its launch in 2019, the program has highlighted employers prioritizing mental wellness and adopting comprehensive policies to support their workforce.

“Across the Kroger Family of Companies, we are united by a shared commitment to Our Values, a mission that guides how we serve our customers, support our communities and treat each other,” said Tim Massa, executive vice president and chief associate experience officer. “Only two in five employers meet the Bell Seal standards, making this certification a testament to Kroger's unwavering dedication to the well-being of our associates and our ongoing efforts to holistically support our teams.”

Kroger earned a perfect score in the “holistic wellness at work” category. It is recognized for its robust mental health initiatives, inclusive wellness programs, generous paid time off, and professional development offerings. These resources go beyond traditional health benefits, promoting a culture of psychological safety and resilience across the company.

Founded in 1909, Mental Health America has long been a leader in advancing mental health advocacy and education. The Gold Bell Seal certification underscores Kroger’s role as a forward-thinking employer in supporting associate well-being and mental health in the workplace.
