CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. today promoted Timothy Massa to the role of group vice president of human resources and labor relations.

Kroger hired Massa in 2010 as vice president of corporate human resources and talent development.

"Tim is a trusted human resources professional and valued partner," says Mike Ellis, Kroger’s president and chief operating officer. "Leaders and associates throughout the company know they can count on him for strategic direction and advice. He leads by example, bringing life to the Kroger Leadership Model through his passion for people and results every day.”

Massa spent 21 years at Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati’s second-largest business, after Kroger. Massa served in various human resources positions for the consumer products giant.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Dayton and a Future HR Leaders accreditation from Cornell University.

Kroger is one of the world’s largest retailers and the biggest traditional grocer in the United States, with 2,640 supermarkets and department stores in 34 states and the District of Columbia.

Kroger’s Fred Meyer Stores subsidiary runs about 130 supercenters, selling groceries and general merchandise in the western United States.

Kroger also has 320 fine jewelry stores and 38 food-processing plants.
