RALEIGH, N.C. — Germany-based discount supermarketer Lidl is seeking to fill management positions as it readies for an entry into the United States.

Germany-based discount supermarketer Lidl is seeking to fill management positions as it readies for an entry into the United States.

Job descriptions posted on LinkedIn by its affiliate, MGP Retail Consulting LLC, include two in North Carolina: a construction manager and real estate analyst, both to work out of Raleigh. MGP Retail has confirmed that Lidl is in the early phase of preparation for an American entry.

Lidl reportedly is considering building a distribution center in Alamance County, N.C., that could serve stores in the Southeast, and it has purchased a building in Arlington, Va., for corporate offices.

The company had intended to enter the United States with 100 stores, mostly on the East Coast, by 2015, but last year said its initial American outlets would not debut until 2018.

The time needed for construction of a North Carolina warehouse would fit with the 2018 timetable, although stores might premiere before then. Lidl operates nearly 10,000 stores worldwide.
