Lidl US expands New York City footprint with new Chelsea store

The new Chelsea location is designed to provide a fast, easy shopping experience while delivering quality and value.

NEW YORK CITY — Lidl US opened its newest New York City store in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood on October 7, bringing its signature combination of fresh products, private label offerings and everyday-low prices to central Manhattan. The new location, on 8th Avenue, welcomed shoppers beginning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Chelsea store marks another step in Lidl’s expansion across the New York market, offering residents and visitors access to a curated assortment of high-quality groceries, fresh produce, international specialties and rotating weekly non-food items at affordable prices.

Brayan Garcia, store manager of Lidl Chelsea, said the team is eager to serve the local community.

“My team and I couldn’t wait to open our doors to Chelsea shoppers,” Garcia said. “We’ve worked hard to create a store that combines fresh produce, daily baked goods, unique non-food offers and a convenient shopping experience. We look forward to serving customers every day.”

He said the store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Customers who visit during the grand opening celebration will have access to special promotions across fresh produce, bakery items and select nonfood products.

Designed for Convenience and Value

The new Chelsea location is designed to provide a fast, easy shopping experience while delivering quality and value. Customers will find a broad selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, premium meats, pantry staples and household essentials, along with Lidl’s popular weekly nonfood assortment featuring seasonal products, kitchenware and home goods.

The store also includes Lidl’s in-store bakery, offering freshly baked breads and pastries throughout the day, including the retailer’s signature butter croissant priced at 49 cents.

“We are thrilled to bring our proven concept and our lowest prices to a new location right in central Manhattan,” said Jassine Ouali, chief customer officer of Lidl US. “Our goal is to transform grocery shopping in New York by delivering outstanding quality, maximum freshness and a great shopping experience at prices that provide real relief to our customers’ wallets. Whether it’s fresh produce for dinner, exciting weekly non-food finds or a flaky croissant in the morning, we invite all New Yorkers to experience the Lidl difference.”

MaryAnne Gilmartin, founder and chief executive officer of MAG Partners, welcomed Lidl as a new tenant at Mabel, the residential development where the store is located.

“MAG Partners is thrilled to welcome a high-quality supermarket to Mabel,” Gilmartin said. “Lidl shares our commitment to the greater Chelsea community, and local residents will benefit from access to fresh, high-quality groceries at affordable prices.”

Lidl’s streamlined operating model enables the retailer to offer high-quality products at competitive prices. Key features of the shopping experience include:

• Fresh bakery offerings baked throughout the day, including the retailer’s popular 49-cent butter croissant.

• Fresh produce and grocery essentials delivered daily.

• Weekly nonfood specials featuring home goods, kitchen accessories, apparel and seasonal merchandise.

• Lidl Plus, the retailer’s free loyalty app, which offers personalized coupons, rewards and additional savings opportunities.

Ouali added that the Chelsea store’s opening reinforces Lidl’s commitment to expanding affordable grocery options for New York City shoppers while delivering quality, convenience and value.
