MINNEAPOLIS — As executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of food, essentials and beauty at Target, Lisa Roath is shaping the future of some of the retailer’s most dynamic and fast-growing categories. Over the past five years, these areas have expanded by nearly $20 billion, and under Roath’s leadership, Target continues to fuel that momentum with a steady stream of newness and innovation.

“No matter what you’re shopping for, a trip to Target is an opportunity for everyday discovery and delight,” Roath explains. “A lot goes into that — one of the biggest parts being the steady drumbeat of newness and innovation that Target is known for.”

This commitment is evident in Food & Beverage, where Target plans to introduce 600 new items to its Good & Gather and Favorite Day brands this year. A major highlight is the first-ever Good & Gather Collab, featuring frozen pizzas and appetizers developed with James Beard Award-winning chef Ann Kim. “Target is famous for democratizing style and making some of the best design available at great prices,” Roath says. “Good & Gather Collabs builds on that legacy in our grocery aisles.”

In Essentials, Target is expanding its pet brand, Boots & Barkley, adding 14 new brands in nutrition and introducing over 2,200 new baby products — including 200 exclusive Cloud Island items. Meanwhile, Beauty has been a standout success, nearly doubling in size over the past five years. “We’re adding almost 50 new brands and 2,000 new items to our assortment,” Roath notes.

With a track record of high-impact marketing and a vision for continuous reinvention, Roath is ensuring that Target remains a go-to destination for shoppers seeking new, on-trend, high-quality and affordable products.
