Veteran Energizer Holdings Inc. executive Lou Martire plans to retire next year after more than four decades at the company.
In an e-mail note Tuesday to industry colleagues, Martire said his retirement will go into effect in April 2015 and that he will continue in his duties as vice president of trade and industry development until that time.
Martire has been with Energizer for 42 years. He began working for the company at age 22 upon graduating from Rutgers University.
"I’ve been very fortunate to have worked for a wonderful company and brand over these many years," he said in the e-mail, adding, "I’ll continue my work at Energizer for the next five-and-a-half months. During that time I’ll see most of you at board meetings and upcoming events, finishing off at NACDS Annual [Meeting] in April."
This past spring, at its 2014 Health Beauty Wellness Marketing Conference, the Global Market Development Center presented the GMDC Lifetime Achievement Award to Martire for his contributions to the industry. In the awards presentation, the trade association played a 15-minute video that featured congratulations from Martire’s industry peers and family members.
At the end of April, Energizer Holdings announced plans to separate its household products and personal care divisions into two independent, public companies. The spinoff of the two business is slated to take place by July 1, 2015. In late August, Energizer Holdings unveiled the expected executive leadership teams of the personal care and household products units following the separation of the two businesses.
