WOONSOCKET, R.I. — As senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer at CVS Health, Lucille Accetta advocates for the role of pharmacists and community pharmacy with key stakeholders including state boards of pharmacy, industry associations, policy makers and educators. This includes working to elevate the scope of pharmacy practice. Accetta demonstrates a deep commitment to creating a sustainable future for the industry, including fostering healthy workplaces and strong talent pipelines.
Accetta is a credentialed pharmacist whose career began in community pharmacy, when she owned and operated her own independent pharmacy in Westchester County, New York.
She furthered her education with a master’s in health policy and management at New York Medical College, writing her thesis on affordable pharmaceutical care for seniors. This led to a role managing one of the first capitated pharmacy programs, an innovative pharmacy payment model, serving seniors in Brooklyn, New York.
She joined CVS Health in July 2017 and has since served in various leadership roles. In addition to her role as chief pharmacy officer, Accetta leads the CVS Specialty Pharmacy and Omnicare businesses.
She is known for her dedication to the practice of pharmacy and caring for her patients. While she started in retail, she found that her role could be more impactful by joining CVS Health and caring for millions of patients, especially those with chronic, rare conditions.
Accetta holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy in New York, a master’s degree in public health and management (MPH) from New York Medical College, and an executive master’s in business administration from Fordham University.
She lends her support to various charities, and she serves as a strong advocate in supporting suicide prevention.
