As senior vice president and chief pharmacy officer at CVS Health, Lucille Accetta is focused on moving pharmacy into the future, where more people choose and grow a meaningful career in the industry and pharmacists are recognized as integral members of a patient’s care team by insurers and regulators so patients can access more care in a convenient pharmacy setting.
She does this by advocating for the role of pharmacists and community pharmacy with key stakeholders including state boards of pharmacy, industry associations, policy makers and educators. She also champions initiatives that help put pharmacy education in reach for more aspiring pharmacists; support their ongoing training, development and career mobility; and support them with innovative, tech-driven solutions to help create more time for patient care.
Accetta is a credentialed pharmacist whose career began in community pharmacy, when she owned and operated her own independent pharmacy in Westchester County, N.Y.
She furthered her education with a master’s in health policy and management at New York Medical College, writing her thesis on affordable pharmaceutical care for seniors. This led to a role managing one of the first capitated pharmacy programs, an innovative pharmacy payment model, serving seniors in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She joined CVS Health in July 2017 and has since served in various leadership roles. In addition to her role as chief pharmacy officer, Accetta leads the CVS Specialty Pharmacy and Omnicare businesses.
She is known for her dedication to the practice of pharmacy and building and championing great leaders and teams that always put patients first.
