SALISBURY, N.C. — Ahold Delhaize USA today announced the upcoming retirement of Meg Ham, president of Food Lion, effective May 2025. Ham, who has served as Food Lion’s leader for over a decade, will leave behind a legacy marked by exceptional growth, community engagement, and customer-focused innovation during her 35-year tenure. Ahold Delhaize plans to name her successor before the end of the year.

We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
Ham expressed gratitude for her time with the company, reflecting on her extensive career with Food Lion and Hannaford. “Food Lion has been my home for more than 35 years, and I’m deeply thankful for the incredible associates, customers, and community partners I’ve worked with along the way,” she said. “Together, we’ve achieved amazing things, from creating exceptional customer experiences to feeding families in need. I will cherish these memories as I transition into the next chapter of my life.”
Under Ham’s leadership, Food Lion has cemented its place as a leading grocery retailer in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States, with over 1,100 stores employing more than 82,000 associates. Known for its customer-centric approach, Food Lion has expanded its focus on hunger relief through its Food Lion Feeds program, which has provided over 1.2 billion meals since 2014.
