WASHINGTON — The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) has announced that Michael Levine has joined the organization as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel. With a proven track record in SEC compliance, as well as extensive governance advisory experience in the retail sector, Levine will serve as a key resource for RILA’s members as they navigate today’s complex legal and regulatory landscape.
Levine comes to RILA from Under Armour, Inc. where he most recently served as its global chief sustainability officer. Prior to Under Armour, Inc., he was a partner at Epstein Becker & Green, PC and an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, NY. He brings a wealth of experience in SEC and corporate governance-related compliance, legal support for retail industry global sourcing, and multi-association engagement. His experience includes many years leading in-house C-suite, legal, operations, finance, sourcing, and procurement peer groups to identify risks, align controls, and implement business-friendly solutions for consumer-facing enterprises. He also brings experience in intellectual property and anti-counterfeiting litigation.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to the RILA team,” said Monica Welt, RILA General Counsel. “His first-hand experience and understanding of retail and its governance challenges, as well as his proven ability to support boards and government affairs initiatives, will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for our members’ interests and support their legal needs.”
Levine added, “I am honored to join RILA and look forward to supporting our members on their most pressing legal challenges. The retail sector is undergoing rapid change, and I am excited to help our industry lead the way in supporting the most sophisticated in-house teams’ evolving best practices.”
