WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic’s locations in the Chicago area now include Target stores.
CVS Health said Monday that MinuteClinics have opened inside 13 Target stores in Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake counties in Illinois.
Chicago represents MinuteClinic’s largest metropolitan market in the United States. The new retail health clinics give MinuteClinic 56 locations overall in Chicagoland, including clinics in CVS Pharmacy drug stores.
“The new MinuteClinic locations inside Target will offer the same scope of services available to patients at all our other clinics in Illinois and nationwide,” MinuteClinic president Andrew Sussman said in a statement.
“In addition, some services will be new to Target guests, including treatment for minor sprains and strains, contraceptive care, smoking cessation counseling, and weight-loss assessment and coaching,” added Sussman, who’s also executive vice president and associate chief medical officer at CVS Health.
The first MinuteClinics opened in Target stores in mid-March, with 11 of the walk-in medical clinics launching inside Target locations in the Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, N.C., markets. Plans call for the 79 Target Clinic locations to reopen under the MinuteClinic banner over the coming months as CVS continues to launch CVS Pharmacy store-within-a-store departments inside Target stores.
CVS Health closed its acquisition of Target Corp.’s pharmacy and retail health clinic business in December. The $1.9 billion deal was announced in mid-June.
In the Chicago area, the Target-based MinuteClinics are located in Broadview, Chicago, Evanston, Mundelein, South Elgin, Tinley Park, Vernon Hills, Warrenville and Willowbrook, Ill. Overall, MinuteClinic has more than 1,100 locations in 33 states and the District of Columbia.
