MPG acquires TikTok Shop partner Team Go, boosting its social commerce capabilities

Holmdel, N.J. – Market Performance Group (MPG) has acquired Team Go, a TikTok Shop Partner and Inc. Magazine's No. 1 Social Commerce Agency of 2024. The move propels MPG to the forefront of the rapidly expanding social commerce arena, cementing its status as a leading omnichannel commerce service provider.

With this acquisition, MPG gains unprecedented expertise across platforms like TikTok Shop, YouTube Shopping, and Pinterest, equipping brands to capitalize on the shift in consumer behavior driven by social commerce. Team Go's early partnership with TikTok as its first onboarded Shop Partner has positioned them as trailblazers in optimizing brand strategies for TikTok’s unique algorithm and consumer engagement dynamics.

MPG CEO George Cleary expressed excitement about the new frontier in e-commerce, likening the rise of social commerce to Amazon’s disruption of online shopping. “The acquisition of Team Go strengthens our ability to harness the power of social commerce for our clients, offering innovative solutions that drive tangible results in an evolving retail landscape,” Cleary said.

The social commerce industry, particularly TikTok Shop, is experiencing explosive growth, with U.S. revenue expected to double to $141 billion in the next five years. TikTok Shop alone is projected to increase U.S. sales tenfold in 2024, with its gross merchandise value approaching $20 billion.

Team Go Founder Oliver Bogner emphasized that social commerce is the future, saying, “TikTok Shop is the fastest-growing e-commerce platform in the world, and it’s time we treat it like Amazon. Joining MPG allows us to expand our impact and deliver even greater value to our clients.”
