NEW YORK — Fairway Group Holdings Corp. has hired Jack Murphy as chief executive officer. The company operates 15 upscale grocery stores in the greater New York area.
Fairway Group Holdings Corp. has hired Jack Murphy as chief executive officer. The company operates 15 upscale grocery stores in the greater New York area.
Murphy cofounded Fresh Fields Inc., a chain of natural food stores that was acquired by Whole Foods Market Inc. in 1996.
Most recently, Murphy was CEO of Earth Fare Inc., operator of a chain of specialty food stores in the Southeast and Midwest and headquartered in Fletcher, N.C. Earlier, he was operating partner at the investment firm that owned the 24 Hour Fitness chain, and he worked as a vice president at Purity Supreme Inc., which ran 28 grocery stores and 14 warehouse stores in the Northeast before being bought by Supermarkets General Corp.
