NEW YORK – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation celebrated its 24th Annual Foundation Dinner in New York City on November 30. The event raised more than $1.5 million, which will help support evidence-based research, pharmacy education and philanthropic initiatives to improve patient outcomes and advance population health.

More than a dozen new supporters sponsored this year’s event.

Last year — although the Dinner was unable to be held — supporters of the NACDS Foundation generously committed more than $1.3 million, bringing the total amount raised over 2021-2022 to nearly $3 million in support of the NACDS Foundation’s meaningful work to advance health and wellness for all.

Renowned astrophysicist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson headlined this year’s event.

As announced previously, the evening also featured the highly anticipated presentation of the NACDS Foundation’s Excellence in Patient Care Award to Dr. Brett Giroir, former assistant secretary for health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

In presenting the award at the Dinner, NACDS Foundation President Sara Roszak said, “Tonight, the NACDS Foundation is recognizing a national healthcare champion who led the country through the COVID-19 pandemic … Dr. Giroir’s dedication to his patients and country complement the aligned values of the NACDS Foundation.

“He led by example – with an unwavering focus on access and equity. He helped reopen the country and accelerate the implementation of needed innovations. We are delighted to recognize his extraordinary work and leadership.”

NACDS President and CEO and NACDS Foundation Chairman Steven C. Anderson kicked off the evening, saying: “Tonight, we are here with friends and colleagues to celebrate our shared commitment. A commitment to powering innovations. Together, we are solving pressing health challenges.

“The Foundation truly operates like an innovation lab. That is, an incubator of ideas that make a difference across diverse communities. With partnerships in research, education, and philanthropy – the Foundation is improving healthcare in new ways.”
