WASHINGTON – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) announced that the Board of Directors Dinner & Entertainment, scheduled for Tuesday, April 29, during the 2025 NACDS Annual Meeting, will honor Jim and Karen Whitman for their remarkable dedication and contributions to the industry over nearly five decades.
Jim, who will retire in June 2025 as NACDS’ senior vice president of member programs and services, has been a pillar of the Association, dedicating 48 years to advancing its member-driven mission with boundless energy, commitment, and leadership.
This tribute is particularly significant as Jim has been instrumental in constantly transforming and sustaining the NACDS Annual Meeting and other NACDS meetings and conferences as premier events that foster industry relationships and drive advancement.
“It is only fitting that we celebrate Jim at an event that he has shaped so significantly and has in many ways personified,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “Jim’s relentless pursuit of excellence in member service has set the standard within NACDS and beyond, creating exceptional experiences that have defined our Association and our community. Karen has been an essential part of the NACDS family, and together they have touched countless lives. This celebration allows us to express our profound gratitude for their immeasurable contributions.”

In announcing his retirement, Jim Whitman commented on his passion for NACDS and on his family’s close ties with the Association: “Aside from my family, serving NACDS has been the most fulfilling and rewarding aspect of my life. In fact, this industry has become like family to me – and to Karen and our two daughters, Lindsay and Dana.”
Anderson continued, “We want NACDS Annual Meeting attendees to know that Tuesday evening will be a unique time to celebrate Jim and Karen, this dynamic industry, and effective Association.”
The 2025 NACDS Annual Meeting will take place April 26-29 at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida.
