LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Natural Grocers is marking September’s Organic Month with deep discounts, in-store events, and a fundraising drive to support regenerative farming, reaffirming its role as the nation’s “Organic Month Headquarters.”
From September 5–27, the specialty retailer will feature promotions on a wide range of organic products, from pantry staples to personal care. The campaign also includes a four-day event from September 10–13 offering savings of up to 41% off Always Affordable prices, free samples, and giveaways for early shoppers. Members of Natural Grocers’ {N}power rewards program will receive added perks, including exclusive coupons, free reusable bags, and a chance to win organic product gift baskets.
“Organic has been at the heart of Natural Grocers since day one,” said Raquel Isely, vice president of marketing. “We advocated for organic agriculture long before it was officially regulated by the USDA, because nourishing people and protecting the planet were never trends — they were (and still are) our values.”
The company is also using Organic Month to expand its partnership with the Rodale Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing regenerative organic agriculture. Natural Grocers aims to raise $100,000 this September through customer donations and the sale of limited-edition bags and pouches, with proceeds directed to Rodale’s farmer training programs.
“The Institute is honored to celebrate Organic Month with Natural Grocers and its customers,” said Jeff Tkach, CEO of Rodale Institute. “Investments in our nonprofit’s work fuel a future food system built on healthy soil and grown by expert regenerative organic farmers.”
Beyond sales and fundraising, Natural Grocers is highlighting consumer education, including resources on why organic practices matter for human health, the environment, and local economies.
Founded in 1955, the Lakewood-based chain operates 169 stores in 21 states. The company sells only USDA-certified organic produce and adheres to strict product standards, positioning itself as both a retailer and advocate for healthier food systems.
