Neutrogena Corp. has unveiled what it says is a revolutionary skin care line.
The three-product Neutrogena Clinical line was years in the making, according to the company. Neutrogena has also been granted 10 patents for the technology used to formulate the products.
At the heart of the Neutrogena Clinical line is Ion2Complex, referred to by the company as “a breakthrough new antiaging technology” that helps revitalize the look of collagen-depleted skin.
Scientists explain that Ion2Complex focuses on reviving the bioelectricity in skin. Bioelectricity — the body’s innate electrical signaling system — directs physiological activities at the cellular level.
Neutrogena says it has discovered a way to create tiny essential ion-mineral conductors within a topical formulation.
“Diminished bioelectrical signaling has been observed in older skin,” notes Dr. Jane Khoury, a dermatologist who serves as a spokeswoman for the Neutrogena Clinical brand and appears in its advertisements. “These changes may result in decreased cell-to-cell communication and consequently might affect the balance of healthy turnover in the skin, resulting in visible signs of aging like wrinkles and sagging skin.”
