PepsiCo brings dirty soda trend to shelves with Dirty Mountain Dew

Dirty soda, mixing soft drinks with syrups and cream, has become a popular beverage trend beyond its regional roots.

PURCHASE, N.Y — PepsiCo is taking Mountain Dew in a creamier direction with the nationwide launch of Dirty Mountain Dew and Dirty Mountain Dew Zero Sugar, a ready-to-drink spin on the fast-growing dirty soda trend. The new beverages are now available at retailers across the U.S. in 20-ounce bottles and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Dirty soda, which usually mixes soft drinks with syrups and cream, has shifted from a regional specialty to a popular consumer beverage trend. Mountain Dew combines the brand’s signature citrus flavor with a smooth, creamy finish, offering shoppers a more convenient version of the customized drink that has become popular online and in foodservice.

“Mountain Dew has always led where flavor goes next, and dirty soda is exactly that moment,” Michael Smith, vice president of marketing for Mountain Dew at PepsiCo Beverages U.S., said in a statement. “Dirty Mountain Dew takes our iconic citrus flavor and makes it bold and refreshing in a whole new way, a bold, creamy ready-to-drink experience that’s exactly what Dew fans have been waiting for.”
