As the holiday season approaches, pets have become an integral part of family traditions, with many pet parents including their furry companions in festive celebrations. However, with holiday shopping, parties, and travel, many cats and dogs are left home alone during the hustle and bustle of the season. To address this, PetSmart has introduced a unique streaming experience, 'Home for the Pawlidays,' designed to entertain pets and ease their owner's worries.
Available at EndPetBlues.com, the streaming videos are tailored for both cats and dogs. They feature pets in holiday attire engaging in playful activities like chasing toys, causing mischief, and unwrapping gifts from PetSmart's 2024 Merry & Bright collection. The videos are designed to keep pets entertained and comfortable while alone. They feature sounds and movements that cats and dogs love, such as crinkles, squeaks, scratches, and chewing.
A recent PetSmart survey revealed that 69% of pet parents feel guilty about leaving their pets alone during the holidays. Half go the extra mile to provide entertainment for their pets while they are away. PetSmart's streaming initiative alleviates pet and pet parent stress, ensuring a more joyful holiday season.
"While pets are often part of many holiday celebrations, there are times they need to be left behind," said Dr. Misti May, PetSmart Director of Pet Health and Safety. "These videos are meant to entertain and comfort pets, helping to reduce mischief and anxiety, so the season is enjoyable for everyone."
PetSmart's survey also found that more than half of pet parents notice changes in their pets' behavior when left alone during the holidays, citing stress due to altered routines, new décor, and increased visitors. Dr. May offers several tips to help pets feel more at ease during this busy time:
- Schedule Quality Time: Spend time together doing low-key activities, like cuddling or watching a holiday movie (or PetSmart's 'Home for the Pawlidays' videos).
- Provide Extra Exercise: Take time for longer walks or play sessions before leaving your pet alone.
- Offer Interactive Toys: Toys designed for independent play can keep pets busy while you're away, and the 'Home for the Pawlidays' videos can provide comforting background noise.
- Consider Pet Boarding: PetSmart's PetsHotel and Doggy Day Camp offer safe and fun options for pet care, whether for a day of socialization or overnight accommodations.
From grooming and holiday pet attire to stocking up on toys for playtime, PetSmart has everything pet parents need to make the season merry and bright. To shop the complete holiday collection or watch the 'Home for the Pawlidays' videos, visit PetSmart.com and EndPetBlues.com.
