CALABASH, N.C. — Publix has expanded its footprint in North Carolina with the opening of a new supermarket in Calabash, marking the grocer's latest investment in the fast-growing coastal region.
The new store, located in the Commons at Carolina Shores shopping center at 9770 Ocean Highway W., opened today. The 46,791-square-foot location offers a full range of grocery departments, including a pharmacy, bakery, deli, meat, seafood and produce sections.
"We're excited to open our doors in Calabash and introduce more customers to the Publix experience," said Jared Glover, media relations manager for Publix. "From the dedication of our associates and the premier service they provide to the quality products our customers trust, we're committed to making a positive impact both inside our store and throughout the community we serve."

The store's deli features a full-service counter offering meats, cheeses, olives, hummus and an assortment of artisan cheeses from around the world. The produce department carries both conventional and organic fruits and vegetables, including locally grown selections, while the bakery offers freshly baked breads, cakes, cookies and other desserts.
Customers will also find a full-service meat department with custom-cut selections and Publix's GreenWise natural and organic chicken products. The seafood department stocks fresh fish and shellfish delivered throughout the week, along with freshly prepared sushi.
In addition, the location includes a full-service pharmacy offering prescription services and a wide range of vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements.
The Calabash opening is part of Publix's continued growth across the Southeast as the employee-owned retailer expands its presence in North Carolina and neighboring markets.
