ATLANTA — RaceTrac Inc. has extended its longstanding partnership with Core-Mark International, a Performance Food Group company, designating Core-Mark as its national supplier for over 600 company-owned convenience stores in the Southeast and Texas, effective immediately. This expanded agreement incorporates every RaceTrac location into Core-Mark’s distribution network.
“RaceTrac and Core-Mark share a commitment to putting customers first, supporting our goal of delivering whatever the guest needs and wants, any time of day,” said Robby Posener, chief development officer at RaceTrac. “Expanding our partnership allows us to leverage Core-Mark’s scale, product assortment and supply chain capabilities to ensure we continue delivering the convenience and quality our guests expect every time they visit a RaceTrac.”
RaceTrac, which opened its 600th convenience store on Nov. 20 and is expanding into new markets, recently launched its first store in North Carolina. Earlier this year, the company also opened a 40,000-square-foot distribution center in Louisiana to meet increasing regional demand.
RaceTrac made headlines this year with its acquisition of Potbelly Corporation, the Chicago-based sandwich chain, in a roughly $566 million all-cash deal completed in October. The transaction adds more than 445 Potbelly restaurants to RaceTrac’s portfolio and gives the convenience retailer a fast-casual food brand to support broader growth plans, while maintaining Potbelly’s identity and expansion objectives.
Core-Mark delivers products, marketing programs, and technology solutions to about 50,000 customer locations throughout the United States and Canada through 37 distribution centers. They serve convenience stores, drugstores, grocery stores, liquor outlets, and other small-format retail channels.
“RaceTrac is a dynamic, customer-focused and food-forward brand, and we are eager to support their mission of making people’s lives simpler and more enjoyable,” said Bill Stein, executive vice president of enterprise growth at Core-Mark. “This collaboration further underscores our commitment to providing best-in-class products and services that enhance the convenience store experience.”
Based in Atlanta, family-owned RaceTrac is among the largest privately held companies in the United States.
