Target Corp. and RadioShack Corp. are rolling out a wireless electronics kiosk program after testing the initiative in 100 Target outlets.
The kiosks, which are branded “Bullseye Mobile” and not RadioShack, will be opened in most of Target’s 1,700 stores, according to Jim Gooch, executive vice president and chief financial officer at RadioShack. The rollout should be completed by mid-2011.
The Target program represents a major expansion of a business model RadioShack first developed with Walmart’s Sam’s Club division. The specialty retailer has operated in-store wireless kiosks in more than 400 Sam’s Club locations since 2004. The initiative is intended to capture share in the rapidly expanding wireless business.
