Rutter’s expands into Virginia

The Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain expands regionally with a 14,000-square-foot flagship offering food, fuel, and entertainment.

YORK, Pa. — Rutter’s has officially expanded into its fourth state with the grand opening of a new convenience store in Winchester, Virginia. Located at 1510 Coverstone Drive, the nearly 14,000-square-foot location is its 91st store and demonstrates its plan to expand its upscale convenience concept throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

“We’re excited to welcome the Winchester community to our newest location,” said Chris Hartman, Rutter’s vice president of fuels, marketing and development. “This store is designed to be more than a fuel stop; it’s a welcoming space to shop, dine, relax and enjoy sports games with friends and family.”

The new store is open 24 hours and features a curated beer cave and wine selection, along with a full restaurant serving Rutter’s Made For You customizable food menu. One of its main attractions is the 1747 Bar & Lounge, a 21+ space offering nearly 75 alcoholic beverages — including canned cocktails, spiked slushies, beer, and wine. The bar also has 20 high-definition 65-inch televisions and three real-time sports tickers.

“Whether you’re watching your favorite team play or just grabbing a drink, the 1747 Bar & Lounge offers a front-row seat with wall-to-wall screens, live sports updates and a menu tailored for game day,” Hartman said.

Designed for both everyday motorists and professional drivers, the Winchester location features 12 auto-fueling stations, five commercial lanes equipped with diesel and in-lane diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), and parking spaces for larger vehicles. The site will employ up to 50 team members, with starting pay beginning at $18 per hour.

Based in York, Pennsylvania, Rutter’s operates 91 convenience stores across Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and now Virginia. As part of a family-owned group of businesses, the Rutter’s Companies also include a dairy and beverage company, a real estate division, and a children’s charity. With origins dating back to 1747, Rutter’s is known as the oldest vertically integrated food company in the United States.
