ST. LOUIS — Discount grocer Save A Lot and Leevers Supermarkets have teamed up to launch a new store concept aimed at delivering a culturally relevant shopping experience for Hispanic consumers, opening the first Save A Lot y Mas outlet in Overland, Mo.
Located at 9430 Midland Blvd., the new format expands on Save A Lot’s traditional value-focused offering with an assortment tailored to Hispanic tastes, including a wider selection of fresh produce, specialty meats, and authentic baked goods. The concept represents the latest step in the companies’ ongoing strategic collaboration.
The Overland store serves as a pilot location alongside two additional sites in Colorado. Executives from both companies described the launch as a "test-and-learn" initiative with potential to expand into other markets with large Hispanic populations.
The new store format follows last year’s debut of Ahorra Mucho, a Hispanic-targeted format in Aurora, Colo., that was also developed by Leevers and Save A Lot. Learnings from that model have informed key features of Save A Lot y Mas, including a curated meat department with marinated options, an enhanced produce selection, and fresh-baked Mexican sweet breads from local bakeries.
In addition to its product mix, the format also includes Spanish-language signage and marketing materials, with in-store visuals and digital promotions designed to better connect with Spanish-speaking shoppers.

To mark the store’s grand opening, a community carnival is scheduled for July 9, beginning at 8 a.m. CT. Festivities will include family-friendly activities such as face painting, samples, coupons, and appearances by a taco truck and the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the St. Louis Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will take place at 9 a.m.
Save A Lot, founded in 1977, operates roughly 700 independently owned stores across 30 states. Leevers Supermarkets, a 100% employee-owned company, operates multiple grocery banners with a focus on localized, community-driven retailing.
