ST. LOUIS — Schnuck Markets, Inc. and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis (ULSTL) today announced that Schnucks customers and the company donated a total of $100,000 to support the Urban League through the sixth annual “Round Up at the Register” campaign in February. Customers donated $83,624, and Schnucks provided an additional $16,376.
The campaign ran Wednesday, February 4 - Tuesday, February 17, and Schnucks customers had the option at checkout to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar with 100 percent of donations in the St. Louis area supporting the non-profit organization’s Save Our Sons and Save Our Sisters programs. Round ups at Schnucks stores in other markets support the Urban League chapter in each respective area or the National Urban League.
“Having been partners for more than half a century, we know the great work the Urban League does providing economic opportunities to those in need by creating ladders out of poverty through jobs, entrepreneurship and financial responsibility,” said Schnucks Chairman and CEO and past ULSTL Chairman of the Board, Todd Schnuck. “I thank our customers for their generous round ups, and I applaud Schnucks teammates who continually strive to nourish people’s lives through our community engagement efforts.”
“On behalf of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, we are incredibly grateful to Schnucks and their customers for this generous investment in our community,” said Michael P. McMillan, President and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. “For decades, Schnucks has demonstrated what true corporate partnership looks like. These funds will directly support our Save Our Sons and Save Our Sisters programs, helping individuals gain access to workforce opportunities, mentorship and life-changing resources that empower them to build stable futures for themselves and their families.”
