ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz has been ranked No. 3 among large companies on Fortune and Great Place to Work’s 2026 Best Workplaces in Retail list, marking the convenience retailer’s 11th consecutive appearance on the annual ranking.
Sheetz trailed only Wegmans Food Markets and Target on this year’s large-company list and has ranked among the top 10 every year it has been included.
The rankings are based on employee feedback on workplace experiences, including access to leadership, respect, support for well-being and professional development, and opportunities to contribute.
According to Sheetz, 90% of employees said the company is a great place to work, compared with 57% at a typical U.S. company.
Other convenience retailers also earned spots on the 2026 rankings. Oklahoma-based QuikTrip ranked No. 19 among large companies, with 79% of employees saying it is a great place to work. The Wills Group, which operates Dash In convenience stores, ranked No. 2 among small and medium-sized companies, with 91% of employees rating the company positively.
The latest recognition adds to a series of workplace honors for Sheetz. In August, the retailer was named to Great Place to Work and People magazine’s 2026 Companies That Care list for the fifth consecutive year and the sixth time in seven years.
Separately, Redefining the Road, the official magazine of Women In Trucking, named Marathon Petroleum a 2026 Top Company for Women to Work in Trucking. It is the fifth consecutive year the company has received the recognition.
Marathon Petroleum said its benefits for professional drivers include four-day workweeks, paid parental leave for full- and part-time employees, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement, a 401(k) employer match and a company pension plan.
“This recognition is meaningful because it reflects the work our teams do every day to create an environment where members of our transport team, including drivers, can succeed safely, feel supported and see a long-term future in transportation,” said Katie Meschede, Marathon Petroleum transport operations director west. “Safety is the key to our operations and that fundamental commitment goes hand in hand with building a culture where people have the resources, training and opportunities to grow.”
