Shopko is set to unveil the results of a partial store remodeling project on Thursday.
The remodel of all of the company’s 133 Shopko stores involves improving customer access to jewelry and expanding its active apparel offerings.
Shopko has removed the large glass jewelry cabinets from its stores so that shoppers will be able to easily see, touch and try on jewelry pieces without having to wait for a store associate to unlock the cabinets. The move also provides space for an expanded assortment of fashion jewelry.
In addition, Shopko’s women’s apparel department is expanding its selection of misses and plus size active wear and outerwear and swimwear assortments. Those categories have seen significant growth over the past few years.
"We are confident our customers are going to love this change to our stores," said Shopko president and chief merchandising officer Jill Soltau. "Our jewelry selection will be much easier to browse and experiment with; and with jewelry playing a key role in individualizing and completing their look, that convenience and access, combined with a new expanded selection of on-trend pieces, will be a big plus for our customers."
As part of the expansion of its active apparel that features such brands as Nike, Puma and Adidas, Shopko will be significantly broadening its exclusive offering of Energy Zone active wear. This expansion features technical performance workout tops, tees, hoodies, bras and hosiery as well as an October relaunch of its highly popular Energy Zone active bottoms program.
"The ‘athleisure’ trend is changing the way American women are dressing, making it necessary to expand our product assortment to ensure we are providing a wide array of options for consumers," Soltau said "Our expanded assortment will feature something for everyone."
