WEST DES MOINES, Iowa—Dubai Chocolate Bars are now sold in select Hy-Vee stores across the grocer’s eight-state region. Hy-Vee is one of the few grocery retailers in the U.S. to offer this popular product, which has become a hit on social media.
The Dubai Chocolate Bar trend went viral a few months ago after several food influencers raved about the new confection on social media platforms. Demand for the chocolate bar grew faster than supply, and it became an instant sensation. The unique flavors and textures of chocolate bars, combined with their visual appeal, have made them popular in the United States.
The candy bar is inspired by knafeh, a Middle Eastern dessert made with kataifi, sweet attar syrup, and layers of pistachio and cream. The inside of the chocolate bar contains a mixture of crispy knafeh bits and pistachio cream. The bar's exterior stands out with its hand-splatter-painted design in vibrant yellow and green.
“Hy-Vee is thrilled to bring this trending item to our customers,” said Matt Beenblossom, president of Lomar, Hy-Vee's specialty foods subsidiary. “Thanks to our team, we are able to source and bring these types of popular products that our customers see all over social media right to our local Hy-Vee stores.”
