CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble Co. is initiating a recall of 10 shades of Clairol Natural Instincts in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Procter & Gamble Co. is initiating a recall of 10 shades of Clairol Natural Instincts in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
P&G said late Thursday that it’s conducting the voluntary recall because of a mismatched ColorFresh! Revitalizer sachet in the kits that may create an unwanted color result.
According to the P&G, the ColorFresh! Revitalizer gives users a boost of color two weeks after the initial coloring. The primary hair colorant is not affected, and all of the products contained in the kit remain safe to use, the company said.
Clairol Natural Instinct shades affected by the recall include Shade 16 Light Auburn (Spiced Tea), Shade 35 Brown Black (Ebony Mocha), Creme Shade 03G Light Golden Blonde (Honey Creme), Creme Shade 7.5 Dark Blonde (Maple Creme), Creme Shade 21G Medium Golden Brown (Caramel Creme), Creme Shade 23R Medium Auburn (Raspberry Creme), Creme Shade 30R Dark Auburn (Cherry Creme), Creme Shade 31 Darkest Brown (Coffee Creme), Vibrant Shade 9 Natural Light Blonde (Blonde Vibrance) and Vibrant Shade 10 Extra Light Blonde (Sun-Kissed Blonde).
P&G said it’s removing the products in question from store shelves and has informed regulatory authorities in the affected countries. "Consumers with one of the impacted sachets can still use everything else in the kit, including the main colorant and color conditioning treatment, but should discard the ColorFresh! Revitalizer sachet," the company stated. People who have purchased the affected shades can contact Clairol for a replacement coupon or refund.
The company noted that other Natural Instincts products have the correct ColorFresh! Revitalizer sachet and will deliver the intended color result.
