OMAHA, Neb. – SpartanNash rang in the New Year with the grand opening of its first small-format Supermercado Nuestra Familia, unveiling a nearly 14,000-square-foot store at 2323 L Street designed for quick, convenient shopping while offering authentic Hispanic products and cultural experiences.
Strategically situated near local schools and directly on a bus route, the L Street store is designed to facilitate quick, everyday shopping trips for families and commuters. The market-style layout offers a wide selection of fresh meats and pastries, traditional spices, a full-service carnicería, daily-prepared aguas frescas and horchata, and an expanded bakery.
“Our newest Supermercado Nuestra Familia location reflects how we’re reimagining the grocery experience, making it faster and easier for families on the go while still offering the authentic products and traditions that connect communities,” said Jay Mahabir, vice president of retail operations at SpartanNash.
Key offerings at the L Street location include an expanded bakery with tres leches cakes, gelatins, and flans; a wide selection of Hispanic produce, meats, groceries, and dairy items; fresh fruits and vegetables alongside dried chiles and spices; convenient fresh-cut produce; a full-service carnicería with expertly trimmed meats; and hot deli staples such as tamales, enchiladas, beans, and rice.

Store Director Robert Newsom said the format was built with accessibility and speed in mind. “This new location was designed for families – easy to reach, quick to shop and filled with the authentic Hispanic products our store guests love,” he said.
The grand opening celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, community festivities, and special promotions. During the event, the company donated $5,000 to South High School, highlighting Supermercado Nuestra Familia’s continued support for local schools and communities.

Since its launch in 2013, the Supermercado Nuestra Familia banner has prioritized quality, convenience, and community involvement. By early 2025, the brand had grown to three Omaha locations, doubling its presence with two additional stores in the market and extending to Topeka, Kan., in December.
