Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation awards 550+ in-store donations in one day

More than 550 local nonprofits and schools benefit from in-store donations across 450 neighborhoods

PHOENIX – Sprouts Farmers Market brought community giving to the forefront with its annual Sprouting Healthy Communities Day, when all 450 stores nationwide hosted in-store check presentations totaling $3.3 million. The donations were awarded to more than 550 local nonprofit partners and schools supporting nutrition, gardening, cooking, and wellness programs.

“At Sprouts, caring for our community is one of our core values, and with the Sprouting Healthy Communities Day we saw that value in action,” said Dustin Hamilton, chief stores officer at Sprouts Farmers Market. “This in-store event created a powerful moment of connection across the country as our team members came together with local partners to support children, families, and healthier communities.”

The grants, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, will help expand access to nutrition education, school gardens, cooking classes, and family wellness programs. Collectively, these initiatives are expected to reach one million children and adults in 2025.

The funding builds on the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation’s grant program announced in May and is made possible in part through customer round-up donations at checkout. Many of the recipients were nominated by Sprouts shoppers.

“Our customers are right by our side helping to make these programs possible, and some of them even nominated the nonprofits that we supported in these grants,” said Lyndsey Waugh, executive director of the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Foundation has awarded $50 million in grants to community partners advancing nutrition education and wellness across Sprouts’ operating states.
