WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —  As senior vice president of government relations and corporate compliance for Hy-Vee, Stacey Johnson advocates for the regional grocer’s interests at the federal level and with lawmakers in multiple states.

Johnson arrived at Hy-Vee in 2020, bringing extensive experience monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, identifying opportunities for organizational growth, and developing strategies and action plans that align with business goals.

Johnson and her team have been strong advocates for expanding access to health care, especially in rural areas, where access to care is often scarce. They’ve also worked with federal and state lawmakers to ease the pain resulting from below-cost drug reimbursements, which put additional financial pressures on retail pharmacies across the nation and threaten their financial stability.

“We continue to elevate Hy-Vee’s voice in bipartisan-supported public policy initiatives such as pharmacy benefit manager reform,” says Johnson. “At the state level we are leading coalitions and strengthening support for PBM reform, with bills having been enacted and/or considered over the past two years in all of our states.”

Johnson completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa. She earned her law degree from Drake University Law School. She is active in her community, serving on multiple boards focusing on community and youth development, and was selected as one of a small group of industry experts to serve on the National Streamline Sales Tax Business Advisory Council.
