QUINCY, Mass. – Stop & Shop is rolling out a major price-cutting initiative at its 88 Eastern Massachusetts locations, lowering everyday prices on thousands of items starting Friday, August 22. The move extends across nearly every department, encompassing both national brands and the grocer’s private-label products, and will be fully implemented by the end of the month.
With this rollout, Stop & Shop has now implemented reduced prices across all 116 of its Massachusetts stores as part of a multi-year transformation strategy announced in May 2024. The plan centers on affordability, store remodels, and an enhanced in-store experience.
“Massachusetts is our home, and bringing meaningful savings to millions of customers right in our backyard is an important milestone in our broader strategy,” said Roger Wheeler, President of Stop & Shop. “We know that value matters now more than ever, and this price investment - which is the largest one we’ve executed to date - is just one example of the work we’re focused on to deliver a great experience for our customers in terms of value, high-quality products, and service in our stores.”
Examples of New Everyday Prices:
- Stop & Shop Italian Bread (16 oz): $1.79 (down 28%)
- Rotisserie Chicken (30 oz): $6.49 (down 19%)
- Chobani Non-Fat Yogurt (5.3 oz): $1.49 (down 17%)
- Stop & Shop Pasta (16 oz): $0.99 (down 23%)
- Sargento Shredded Cheese (8 oz): $3.99 (down 7%)
Shoppers can spot the reductions through yellow shelf tags and continue to save with weekly promotions, sale prices, and the retailer’s GO Rewards loyalty program, which offers digital coupons, gas discounts, and monthly free product giveaways.
Stop & Shop has installed Savings Station Kiosks in all stores to make it easier for customers to activate digital coupons and personalized offers from their GO Rewards loyalty account – no smartphone, internet access, or computer required.
Additional ways to save at Stop & Shop include:
- Deal Lock – This program enables customers to enjoy lower prices for longer periods, with savings on hundreds of items for weeks at a time.
- Meal Deals – These deals consist of a protein on sale, plus several complementary items, all for free, to complete a meal for a family of four. A recent example of a meal deal includes a cheeseburger wrap recipe featuring ground beef on sale, accompanied by free participating shredded lettuce, tomatoes, tortillas, ketchup, and cheese.
- Compare and Save – This program helps customers easily compare the savings they get when purchasing a quality Stop & Shop store brand product versus a national brand.
