Tammy DeBoer, president of Harris Teeter, brings over 35 years of retail experience to her role, guiding the company through strategic growth while fostering a strong culture of connection and community. At the helm of the wholly owned Kroger subsidiary, DeBoer oversees over 250 stores, more than 80 fuel centers and 36,000 valued associates across seven states and Washington, D.C., ensuring that Harris Teeter remains a market leader in an evolving grocery landscape.
“At Harris Teeter, we’re not only in the food business — we’re also in the people business,” DeBoer says. “I thoroughly enjoy and am motivated by building genuine connections with our valued associates, customers, supplier partners and communities. These connections embody our purpose: Enriching Lives. That purpose allows us to drive retention with our associates, earn loyalty with our customers and develop mutually beneficial partnerships with our suppliers.”
Since joining Harris Teeter, DeBoer has spearheaded a companywide transformation, leading the grocery retailer through the process of defining and articulating its core purpose and guiding principles, a major brand refresh and significant capital investments aimed at sustaining long-term growth.
Prior to joining Harris Teeter in 2020, DeBoer served as executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Family Dollar, and spent 19 years at Delhaize in various leadership roles, contributing to the strategic development of Food Lion and Bloom.
Beyond her corporate leadership, DeBoer is deeply involved in industry and community initiatives. She previously was board chair of the International Fresh Produce Association, is a member of the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council, and currently serves on the boards of the Charlotte Sports Foundation and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
