BRIDGEHAMPTON, N.Y. — Target welcomed community leaders, local officials, business partners and the press to an exclusive preview of its new Bridgehampton store on Tuesday, offering a first look at the retailer’s newest Long Island location ahead of its public opening on October 11.

The 90,000-square-foot store becomes Target’s 109th location in New York and marks the company’s continued expansion in the state. Designed to serve residents of Bridgehampton and surrounding communities, the store will offer groceries, everyday essentials and same-day fulfillment services, including Drive Up, Order Pickup and Target Circle 360 delivery.
Instead of Target’s traditional red branding, the store’s exterior signage and bullseye logo are white against a gray background. Gray bollards will also replace the retailer’s trademark red posts outside the store. The retailer said the store’s exterior and interior were designed to comply with local architectural guidelines while reflecting Bridgehampton’s coastal character. The shopping center previously housed a Kmart, which closed in 2024, and earlier was home to both Woolco and Caldor during its five-decade history.
Store director Adriana Fitzpatrick said the new location addresses a long-standing demand among area residents for a closer Target store.
“I think it’s a great store to bring to the community,” Fitzpatrick said. “Guests have been asking for a Target closer to home. We’re bringing value, everyday essentials, a full market and a great guest experience. It’s a one-stop shop where guests can pick up groceries, shop for apparel and household needs, and enjoy services like Starbucks all in one visit.”
The store is expected to create approximately 140 jobs, with about 130 team members already hired. Fitzpatrick said building a strong team culture has been a key focus during the months leading up to the opening.
“My biggest goal is making sure our team is ready to provide a great guest experience,” she said. “We’ve spent the last several months focused on staffing the building, and we’ve had great community partners helping us get there.”
The Bridgehampton store represents a unique prototype for Target, falling between the retailer’s small-format and traditional general merchandise store designs. In addition to a full grocery assortment, the location features a Starbucks Café and a CVS Pharmacy, which is scheduled to open in November.
Fitzpatrick said the store’s merchandise mix is designed to improve access to groceries, wellness products, beauty items, apparel and other everyday essentials for residents in the area.
“I think it’s really about accessibility,” she said. “Guests will be able to come in for food, wellness items, beauty products and apparel. We’re focused on making it easier for people in this community to get what they need in one place.”
A highlight of Tuesday’s preview event was the recognition of Jenna Solis, a longtime leader at the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center, who was selected as the store’s First Guest. Solis, who has spent nearly a decade serving children and families across eastern Long Island, received a $500 Target shopping spree and the opportunity to make the store’s first purchase before the official grand-opening festivities.
The Bridgehampton opening continues Target’s growth across New York, where the retailer first established a presence in 1996. The new location is expected to provide residents with expanded shopping options while bringing new jobs and services to the East End community.
