The joint venture with McMahon’s Brunet franchise will provide pharmacies in the majority of Target’s outlets in the province and help deliver on a commitment to making health care an essential part of the discounter’s offerings. Target plans to open 124 units across Canada throughout 2013 and will debut its first 25 in Quebec this fall.
"Brunet’s reputation as a leader in promoting patient health and well-being, combined with its specialized product offering, makes Brunet the ideal strategic partner to help us deliver outstanding patient care in Quebec," Target Canada president Tony Fisher said in a statement.
McMahon will provide supply chain and inventory services and operational support to franchisees who will own and operate the pharmacies in Target stores. The pharmacies will carry Target brands and provide access to prescription, pharmacy and health consultation services, while customers will be able to use Brunet’s MaSanté online tool.
