Target Corp. is seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification for all of the stores it will open in Canada in 2013.

Store design plans consequently will include conserving water and energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting landfill waste.

Target will be among the first organizations in Canada to be part of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Volume Program, which streamlines the certification process for multiple buildings of a similar type.
