GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Fresh Market, Inc., a specialty food retailer renowned for its curated fresh foods and premium prepared meal options, has expanded its presence to 163 locations with two grand openings this week. The Lincoln Park location in Chicago and the Crofton store in Maryland each aim to bring a unique flavor to their respective communities. They deliver not only fresh ingredients but also restaurant-quality meals and a gathering space for locals, the company says.
In Chicago, the new 17,000-square-foot store at 2730 N. Halsted Street marks The Fresh Market's first foray into the city. Boasting an enticing range of in-store dining options—such as smashburgers crafted from high-quality beef cuts, Neapolitan-style pizzas with BelGioioso mozzarella, and protein-rich hummus bowls—the store aims to be a culinary destination for Lincoln Park residents. Jason Potter, CEO of The Fresh Market, emphasized the store’s commitment to the local community, saying, “It’s not just a store to pick up your groceries, but a place where people can come to meet up with friends and family to enjoy delicious, fresh food.” The grand opening festivities included a “bread-breaking” ceremony, live music, giveaways, and a donation to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Meanwhile, on the East Coast, the 27,000-square-foot Crofton store at 1153 State Rt. 3N is The Fresh Market’s fifth location in Maryland. Recognized by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for its bakery, deli, and prepared foods, the new Crofton site offers a wide selection of freshly smoked BBQ, hand-crafted pizzas, and an array of salads and soups. Potter highlighted the strategic importance of the Crofton opening in expanding The Fresh Market’s East Coast footprint, adding, “Our goal is to provide the community with access to the highest quality fresh foods and a shopping experience that is delicious, convenient, and enjoyable.” Similar to the Lincoln Park opening, the Crofton celebration featured live entertainment, product samplings, giveaways, and a $2,000 contribution to the Maryland Food Bank.
Both locations underscore The Fresh Market’s ongoing growth strategy and commitment to serving communities with quality, convenience, and distinctive food offerings. Each store operates seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with online ordering, curbside pickup, and home delivery options available.
