MONROVIA, Calif. — Trader Joe’s announced plans on Friday to open eight additional stores, continuing a steady expansion pace for the specialty grocer. The latest announcements follow earlier news this year outlining nine future locations along with the opening of two new stores.
In emailed comments to Grocery Dive, a company spokesperson said Trader Joe’s expects to open more than 20 stores in 2026. The retailer opened 34 locations in 2024 and added 43 more in 2025.
Thus far in 2026, Trader Joe’s has opened two stores and revealed plans for 17 locations that are still in development across the U.S.
The newest group of “Coming Soon!” stores includes locations in Paso Robles and Anaheim Hills, California; Spokane Valley and Seattle, Washington; Oswego, Illinois; West Orange, New Jersey; Lafayette, Louisiana; and Herriman, Utah.
Earlier last week, the company also announced plans for new stores in Orlando and Reading, Massachusetts.
