LONDON -- Esi Eggleston Bracey, Unilever’s chief growth and marketing officer, is leaving the company as part of a wider restructuring at the consumer products company.
Eggleston Bracey joined Unilever in 2018 and was appointed its inaugural chief growth and marketing officer in January 2024. She developed a track record in driving change via brands early in her career, when she led COVERGIRL’s pioneering work to diversify the face of beauty with disruptive “real beauty” talent such as Queen Latifah, Ellen DeGeneres and Janelle Monáe.
Throughout her career, Egglestlon Bracey has emphasized what she calls purpose-driven marketing, with the aim of driving growth through brands that resonate deeply with people and shape culture.
She leaves the company at the end of the month
Leandro Barreto will expand his current role of chief marketing officer for Unilever’s beauty and wellbeing business group, assuming Unilever’s enterprisewide marketing agenda, the company said in a press release announcing the personnel moves.
“I would like to thank Esi for her significant contribution to Unilever and wish her every success in the next chapter of her career,” said Fernando Fernandez, CEO of Unilever. “With strong groundwork now in place, I know Leandro will make a big impact in his expanded role as we accelerate desire at scale and turn Unilever into a true marketing and sales machine.”
The consumer goods giant noted that in recent years it has undergone an organizational overhaul that rebalanced its product portfolio and emphasized beauty and wellness as twin engines for growth.
"Looking ahead, our priorities are clear: more beauty and well-being and personal care; disproportionate investment in the U.S. and India, and a sharper focus on premium segments and digital commerce," Fernandez said.
