DEERFIELD, Ill. — Retail veteran Rachael Vegas has been appointed chief commercial officer for merchandising, marketing and digital at Walgreens, effective Oct. 22.
She will lead the company's end-to-end customer experience strategy, including owned brand and merchandising, marketing and the loyalty program.
Vegas most recently was executive vice president and chief merchant at BJ's Wholesale Club. She joined BJ's in October 2021.
Before that, she was senior vice president of e-commerce merchandising and financial services at H-E-B. She joined H-E-B as senior vice president of merchandising in August 2019.
Earlier, she was chief merchant at San Francisco-based Brandless Inc. Prior to that, she worked for 13 years at Target, starting as household cleaner buyer and rising to vice president and general merchandise manager for grocery center store.
Vegas began her career at Hannaford and also worked for Food Lion.
She has an MBA for the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
