BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Last July Vinima Shekhar was named vice president of merchandising for beauty at Walmart U.S. Prior to the appointment she had served as vice president of merchandising for wellness, since April 2022.

Shekhar joined Walmart in 2018 as e-commerce merchandising director. Two years later she was named senior merchandising director, Directed Spend, FinTech (financial technology), a position that enabled her to lead an emerging technology and merchandising team focused on providing better connectivity for customers, health plans and Walmart with the goal of optimizing the value of customers’ health savings and Medicare Advantage spending plans.

“The technology we built allowed customers to unlock their benefits both in-store and online across the largest assortment of both O-T-C and healthy foods at an everyday low price,” Shekhar explained. “Directed Spend programs not only save customers money, but we believe can help reduce the cost of care over time.” Shekhar transitioned from this role to lead the Walmart U.S. Wellness merchandising business with the same goal of helping customers have access to the broadest assortment of health and wellness products.

In her current role as vice president of beauty, Shekhar is focused on ensuring Walmart is a trusted and accessible beauty destination for everyone. Under her leadership the team has launched several new beauty brands, including Pretty Smart, Patchology, Being and Good Molecules. In addition, Shekhar is finding ways to position Walmart as a style destination from both the expansion of premium beauty assortment and creating new experiences for customers.
