KEASBEY, NJ — Wakefern Food Corp. has appointed Aaron Sapp, RPh, to serve as Vice President of Pharmacy and Wellness. In his new role, Sapp will report directly to Chief Sales Officer Darren Caudill and spearhead the cooperative’s strategy to enhance its pharmacy services across its expansive network of stores.

“We are excited to welcome Aaron to the Wakefern leadership team," Wakefern president Mike Stigers said. "His impressive track record in retail pharmacy, combined with his experience driving growth and innovation, makes him a key asset as we continue to evolve our pharmacy operations and deliver exceptional service to our cooperative members and their ShopRite Pharmacy patients.”

Sapp will collaborate closely with Caudill to set the strategic direction for the Pharmacy Division. He is tasked with aligning Wakefern’s pharmacy operations with the cooperative’s long-term growth plans, particularly within its network of independently owned supermarkets, including ShopRite. Sapp’s nearly two decades of experience in retail pharmacy leadership positions him to navigate the complexities of today’s rapidly changing healthcare environment.

Reflecting on his new role, Sapp said, “ShopRite pharmacists play a vital role in serving the health needs of their communities. I’m so proud to join the team to help support our committed pharmacy team members in stores so they can offer the very best care to their patients.”

Prior to joining Wakefern, Sapp was Vice President of Pharmacy at Cub Foods/UNFI, where he developed strategies that significantly increased pharmacy sales. His previous experience also includes senior roles at SuperValu Pharmacies and New Albertsons, Inc., where he excelled in procurement, managed care, and operational leadership.

Founded in 1946, Wakefern has grown from a small local cooperative to the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the U.S., with nearly 50 member families operating hundreds of supermarkets across the Northeast under banners such as ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, and others.
